Traditionally, the term art was used to refer to any skill or mastery. Generally, art is made with the intention of stimulating thoughts and emotions. Art tends to facilitate intuitive rather than rational understanding, and is usually consciously created with this intention. Works of art are elusive, refractive to attempts at classification, because they can be appreciated in more than one way, and are often susceptible to many different interpretations. Even art that superficially depicts a mundane event or object, may invite reflection upon elevated themes. How to define a work of art? Imagine you are an art critic whose mission is to compare the meanings you find in a wide range of individual artworks. What will be your criteria to define what is “good art” and what is not?
Art is an act of expressing feelings, thoughts, and observations. Also, it can simply refer to the developed and efficient use of a language to convey meaning with immediacy and or depth. Art is often intended to appeal to and connect with human emotion. It can arouse aesthetic or moral feelings, and can be understood as a way of communicating these feelings. Art is a form of communication between the individual and the world as a whole.
The word art is also used to apply judgments of value. Art can be a measure of high quality and high value that gives the term its flavor of subjectivity. Making judgments of value requires a basis for criticism. Though perception is always colored by experience, and is necessarily subjective, it is commonly understood that what is not somehow aesthetically satisfying cannot be art. Different people like different things and you may like some oil painting, for example, and other person can perceive it like garbage. All viewpoints are subjective. Everyone has his own way to define what is art and what is not.
Art, as creativity, is something humans must do. In this way they can express themselves, convey their feelings. People should do what they really like to do. So, if you like to paint – paint, if you like to dance – dance, etc. Practice, improve your skills and find the best way to express yourself!

Original oil painting is the end result of an artist's creative process
Well, who doesn't want to be a skilled artist, even just in dealing with life's everyday situations? I personally think anyone is an artist. It depends on what you are good at.
Art is an outlet for creativity. But there is a question – do we all have creativity? That is a question which has been argued through the centuries. I believe that everyone of us are gifted with the skills and talents to be creative. If not, I believe, we must learn how to be creative. Creativity is taking a unique thought and implementing it to obtain something new, something of value. Everyone has the talents and skills to be creative, but sometimes we simply need someone to show us the right direction, we need a shove to set us on that path.
If you possess creativity, you definitely can make art. Art is free. So, be spontaneous. Try something new, be brave. Be inspired by all the things around you. Becoming an artist, however, requires discipline, and a new approach to current conditions, based on uncommon assumptions about life and nature of the world. Art can suggests a way to change your entire outlook on life and, in the process, open up a new possibility to express yourself. People use art primarily as a way to help themselves emotionally. It's very important to be open to the experience.
Everything you have should be sent out into the world. All original oil paintings should be showed to the public not only with the purpose to gain recognition, but to share your ideas, emotions. All people have to express themselves, and artists especially. People want to know about other people, and want others to know about them. For some people if they didn't express themselves they would be repressing themselves. And as Socrates said, we're social beings and when we have a particular idea we want reinforcement from others that share the same idea.
It's well known fact that psychologists can look at a piece of art and tell us more about it's creator than the creator knew about himself! Sometimes people don't even realize that they are in fact expressing themselves. People are what they are. It's impossible to change them. All you can do is to try to understand them, their art, what they want to say to you.
